Our client is seeking a Junior Shift Technician to join the Coega team on a contract basis.

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and report defects.
  • Support senior technicians in fault finding and breakdown repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as lubrication, alignment, and component replacement.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and job cards.
  • Participate in shift handovers, clearly communicating plant status and outstanding issues.
  • Assist in reducing downtime through proactive maintenance practices.
  • Ensure tools and work areas are kept clean and safe.
Requirements
  • N2 / N3 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Trade Test (e.g., Fitter) - advantage but not essential
  • 1-2 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance environment
  • Exposure to industrial or manufacturing equipment preferred
  • Valid driver's license and own transport essential
  • Candidate must reside in the Port Elizabeth / Uitenhage area
