A leading FMCG Manufacturing Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Shift Coordinator to join their high-performing Production team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production supervisor who is passionate about operational excellence and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As a Junior Shift Coordinator, you will support day-to-day production operations, supervise production teams, ensure adherence to stringent quality and safety standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities Production Supervision & Coordination
  • Supervise production teams to consistently achieve daily targets, quality standards, and output requirements
  • Coordinate and monitor production activities, ensuring optimal utilisation of equipment, raw materials, packaging materials, and labour resources
  • Schedule work activities and allocate resources effectively to meet production plans and customer requirements
  • Conduct process monitoring and equipment checks to ensure smooth, uninterrupted production flow
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, quality, and hygiene standards including HACCP, GMP, and CIP procedures
  • Implement and maintain site-specific safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Monitor compliance with quality systems, ISO standards, and food safety legislation
  • Oversee cleaning processes and maintain microbiology standards
Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Review and interpret production performance data including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), waste levels, throughput, and quality deviations
  • Implement and support Lean manufacturing methodologies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using productivity improvement techniques
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, records, and compliance registers
  • Report on production performance, quality metrics, and safety incidents
  • Ensure traceability and audit readiness
Team Management
  • Oversee key HR functions within the production team including attendance, performance management, and staff development
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to production operators
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning
What You Bring Essential Qualifications
  • Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
  • National Diploma in Food Technology or Production Certificate
  • Diploma / National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging Operations
  • Team Leader / Supervisory Training (Essential)
Experience
  • 3-5 years' proven experience in a supervisory role within FMCG manufacturing or food production
  • Hands on experience managing production teams and shift operations
  • Track record of achieving production targets and maintaining quality standards
Technical Knowledge
  • Engineering / Mechanical knowledge - understanding of production equipment and basic troubleshooting
  • Material Requirement Planning (MRP) - resource planning and inventory management
  • Plant capacity planning and production scheduling
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) - measuring and improving equipment performance
  • Product and process specific knowledge in FMCG/food manufacturing
  • Microbiology and food safety legislation - HACCP, GMP, hygiene standards
  • Quality systems and ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000)
  • Preventative maintenance principles and implementation
  • Lean manufacturing techniques - waste reduction, 5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement
