Internal Auditor
Job Description
The Internal Auditor will support the Travelstart Group's finance function with group-level financial reporting, consolidations, technical accounting, and internal controls. The role offers exposure to a dynamic multi-entity, multi-currency online travel business and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting across the Group.
This position is ideal for a newly qualified CA(SA) seeking to build strong experience in group reporting, technical accounting, and process improvement within a fast-paced technology and e-commerce environment.
Key Responsibilities
Group & Management Reporting- Assist with the preparation of monthly group management accounts
- Support group consolidations, including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation
- Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations at the subsidiary level
- Assist with variance analysis and preparation of commentary for group reporting purposes
- Support reporting deadlines across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements as and when required
- Assist with technical accounting matters under IFRS, including revenue recognition, leases, foreign currency, provisions, and business combinations where applicable
- Assist with technical queries around VAT with the support of internal and external consultants, where needed
- Support the assessment and documentation of accounting treatments for new transactions, entities, or system and process changes
- Assist with the preparation of technical accounting memos and group accounting position papers
- Support the maintenance and application of group accounting policies
- Assist with the design, documentation, and monitoring of group financial controls
- Support internal audit activities, including walkthroughs and control testing
- Coordinate and respond to external audit queries at the group level
- Assist with audit file preparation and the resolution of audit findings
- Identify opportunities to improve group reporting processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Assist with the standardisation of reporting across group entities
- Support automation initiatives and improvements in reporting tools and consolidation processes
- Contribute to the documentation of finance processes and controls
- Liaise with finance teams and individuals across the Group to support reporting requirements
- Work closely with the local finance team to ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting
- A newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA will be advantageous but not compulsory.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles
- Articles completed at a recognised audit firm (Big 4 or mid-tier advantageous)
- Exposure to group reporting, consolidations, or multi-entity environments is advantageous
- Experience in e-commerce, online travel, or technology-enabled businesses is beneficial but not essential
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex information
- Solid technical accounting foundation and eagerness to deepen expertise
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines
- Proactive, improvement-focused mindset
- Strong Excel skills; experience with consolidation tools, ERPs, or BI tools is advantageous
