Job Description

Work as an Instrumentation Technician, providing instrumentation and electrical support to Specialty Chemicals Jacobs.

  • Must be Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) conscientious and work in accordance to company rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Repair and maintain instrumentation equipment in conjunction with planned and preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Ability to interpret ELDs & P&IDs.
  • Perform daily checks and routine inspections on instrument equipment (incl. utilities) and report all faults.
  • Involved in maintenance and improvements to enhance the reliability of the plant and utilities.
  • Programming and maintenance of site's DCS and SCADA systems.
  • Initiating and completing work orders, ensuring timely sign/close off for completed work along with relevant feedback information.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of basic electrical knowledge.
  • Must be able to work overtime as and when required, even at short notice.
  • Lead and manage related contractor activities on site.
  • Assist in maintaining general equipment and tools, ensuring that they are in a safe condition.
  • Work effectively with all trades to complete engineering activities and objectives.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times both before and after tasks.
Qualifications and expertise required (Must)
  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Qualified trade test as an Instrument Technician
  • Have sound knowledge in Twido and OPTO22 control systems
  • Electrical knowledge in LV and MV applications would be highly advantageous
