GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Integrates, and implements new and revised custom and advanced application and web based programs; performs related duties as required.

NOTE

This position is within our Department of Financial and Information Systems. Candidates with PeopleSoft and system administration experience are preferred.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES

Under general supervision, the duties require the exercise of judgment in integrating and implementing new and revised custom and advanced application and web based programs.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  1. Integrates, and implements new and revised custom and advanced application, web based programs, and advanced programs for relational databases; performs related duties as required.
  2. Develops, maintains and upgrades new and existing advanced enterprise third party Application Programming Interfaces (API'S), web based software suites in relevant languages, and legacy applications.
  3. Writes advanced custom API'S (Application Programming Interfaces) and web based software suites in relevant languages.
  4. Configures, modifies and maintains new and existing advanced enterprise third party Application Programming Interfaces (API'S) web based software suites in relevant languages, and legacy applications.
  5. Programs in relevant web based programming languages and protocols.
  6. Integrates module programs into advanced enterprise third party Application Programming Interfaces (API'S), web based software suites in relevant languages, and legacy applications.
  7. Develops flowcharts, diagrams, specifications for new and revised advanced enterprise third party Application Programming Interfaces (API'S), web based software suites in relevant languages, and legacy applications.
  8. Writes advanced custom code.
  9. Provides management with detailed documentation in the approved format.
  10. Provides management with updated documentation when changes or revisions are installed.
  11. Leads and mentors staff, as required.
  12. May supervise, as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Through knowledge of the current principles, practices, techniques, and procedures of implementing and integrating new and revised legacy and web based programs, applications and modifications to API'S.
  2. Considerable knowledge of installation, implementation testing and integration techniques for legacy and web based programs/protocols.
  3. Considerable knowledge of legacy programming languages such as Cobol.
  4. Considerable knowledge of relevant web based languages, web based programs, and advanced legacy and protocols in a large integrated data processing environment.
  5. Knowledge of advanced application programming and web based programming design.
  6. Knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  7. Knowledge of relational database systems.
  8. Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and perform advanced programming tasks in logical sequence.
  9. Ability to effectively supervise, lead and mentor staff.
  10. Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Training and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a major in a computer field including two (2) courses in programming (6 credits).

. Four years of satisfactory, paid experience performing applications and/or web-based programming for computers;

. or

2. Six years of satisfactory, paid experience performing applications and/or web-based programming for computers and,

. either

. A. Associate's degree from a regionally accredited or New York Stateregistered college or university with a major in a computer field including two (2) courses in programming (6 credits);

. or

. B. Completion of two years (60 credits) of education at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university, including eighteen (18) credits in a computer field including two (2) courses in programming (6 credits)

. or

3. Satisfactory, paid experience performing applications and/or web-based programming in excess of the minimum requirement for 1 and 2 can be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis. Each year of experience acts as substitution for thirty (30) college credits, including nine (9) credits in a computer field and three (3) credits in a course in programming.
