Job Description InformationSystems Manager

DNA Economics seeks an Information Systems Manager to oversee the company's information systems, hardware, security, and innovation, ensuring alignment with business goals and contributing to the organization's growth.

About the role

The role encompasses four core components:

  • Systems and Software - strategic management and integration of DNA's information systems to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Hardware - lifecycle management and procurement of IT hardware and physical assets.
  • Information Security - managing the systems and security environment and policies.
  • Innovation and Leadership - developing and managing the company's IT and AI roadmap, budget, and related service providers.

Over a 2-4 year period this position offers significant professional growth, evolving into a senior executive role. Depending on seniority, the manager may report to the Business Operations Manager or the Managing Director. The role focuses on IT hardware, systems architecture, and processes rather than software development or coding.

Key roles and responsibilities
  • System management - oversee the functioning, implementation, and user and document controls for core business tools, including web and social media.
  • Information architecture design - develop a logical structure for DNA's digital environment to ensure data and files are organized, accessible, and secure.
  • Process and system optimisation - streamline automated or improved workflows within the current software stack (Zoho, SharePoint).
  • Policy and governance - develop, refine, manage, and implement IT policies, including security frameworks, disaster recovery, and POPIA compliance.
  • AI and innovation - oversee governance and implementation of AI integration, including policy development.
  • Hardware management - end to end lifecycle, maintenance, and procurement of IT hardware.
  • Vendor management - identify, evaluate, and contract external service providers, ensuring value and SLAs.
Minimum Requirements

  • Post graduate degree in commerce, computer science, or an IT related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience, including at least two years in a management role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing cloud based business systems (ERPs, CRMs, or project management tools).
  • Strong analytical, self motivated, and adaptable skills for a dynamic consulting environment.
  • Advanced MS Office skills and knowledge.
  • Legally able to work in South Africa.
Ideal additional requirements
  • Prior experience with Zoho Books, Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Additional certification or qualifications related to IT, information systems, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in application development, system design, and AI.
  • Industry experience in consulting, professional services, or research environments.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and processes.
