Job Description
Position Type: Full Time; One Year Support Raised Fellowship; Ballito, South Africa
Program and Position OverviewLove Justice International (LJI) combats human trafficking through transit monitoring, intercepting potential victims at key transportation hubs. The Impact Engineer will support the organization's core processes, develop scalable tools, and work closely with field teams to maximize mission impact.
Key Responsibilities- Identify opportunities to increase mission impact by analyzing field realities, data, and partner feedback.
- Translate findings into practical tools-software features, forms, spreadsheets, or clear processes-for partners to use.
- Collaborate to test new ideas in the field, learn quickly, and refine tools until they're ready to scale.
- Work directly with field teams and partners to understand constraints and ensure solutions fit local contexts.
- Write clear standards and workflows so tools can be used consistently across locations.
- Improve core processes by identifying problems, understanding root causes, and proposing evidence based fixes.
- Approach problems with curiosity and skepticism-question assumptions, seek alternative explanations, focus on measurable impact.
- Travel periodically to observe operations, test tools on site, and adjust designs based on observations.
- Build and maintain a team of financial supporters through regular communication and updates.

Experience & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (any field with strong analytical, technical, or problem solving foundations).
- Experience: Significant experience in at least one of the following domains-business, operations, finance, legal, data analysis, human resources, security, engineering, or product development.
- Demonstrated ability to design and improve processes, tools, or systems in a real world operational context.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets and data driven decision making (Google Sheets or Excel; Tableau or similar is a plus).
