Job Description

Teneo is currently looking for an Afrikaans FAL Teacher to join our IEB FET department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Afrikaans FAL IEB curriculum, be confident using digital tools to deliver high-quality online instruction, and be committed to fostering an engaging, supportive, and interactive virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging Afrikaans FAL lessons to students in an online format.

  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that promote language acquisition, comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Afrikaans.

  • Create and manage online course materials, including lesson plans, activities, assessments, and examination preparation resources aligned to IEB requirements.

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across Afrikaans FAL language components, including grammar, literature, comprehension, and creative writing.

  • Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic development and language proficiency.

  • Facilitate interactive and collaborative learning experiences.

  • Stay up to date with developments in Afrikaans FAL education, IEB curriculum updates, and best practices in online language teaching.

  • Maintain regular, professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and wellbeing.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance subject knowledge and online teaching practice.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Afrikaans, or a related field.

  • Relevant teaching certification and qualifications.

  • Minimum of 5 years' teaching experience in Afrikaans FAL, preferably with experience in an online or blended learning environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual learning setting.

  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
