Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced HR&IR Officer to join our team in the Mpumalanga Region.

The HR & IR Officer will provide end-to-end human resources and industrial relations support to operations within the Mpumalanga region. The role focuses on ensuring legislative compliance, managing employee relations, and supporting line management with fair and consistent people practices in a unionised environment.

Key Responsibilities Human Resources
  • Administer the full employee lifecycle, including appointments, transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Prepare and issue employment contracts, addendums, and HR correspondence
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR files
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and exits
  • Manage leave administration, absenteeism, and time & attendance queries
  • Assist with performance management processes
  • Support training and skills development initiatives
Industrial Relations
  • Manage disciplinary and incapacity processes, including investigations, hearings, and outcomes
  • Handle employee grievances and workplace disputes
  • Prepare and manage cases referred to the CCMA and Bargaining Councils
  • Engage with trade unions and shop stewards
  • Advise management on labour legislation and fair labour practices
  • Ensure consistent application of company disciplinary codes and procedures
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA)
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
  • Assist with employment equity processes
Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Labour Law
  • 3-5 years' experience in an HR & IR role
  • Proven experience in:
    • Disciplinary hearings
    • Grievance management
    • CCMA/Bargaining Council matters
  • Experience working in a unionised and operational environment
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation
  • Valid driver's licence, own car and willingness to travel within the Mpumalanga region
