Delphius Commercial is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to coordinate health and safety systems within our organization. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in the telecommunications sectors (MUST), demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting a safe and healthy working environment.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for the following daily activities:

  • Hazard Identification: Identify hazards and assess risks to health and safety within the workplace.
  • Safety Controls: Implement appropriate safety controls and provide advice on accident prevention and occupational health to management and employees.
  • Accident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, identify causes, and recommend improvements in safety standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation concerning plant, equipment, and workplace activities.
  • Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure they meet safety regulations.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure that personal protective equipment is used correctly across the organization.
  • Training Sessions: Conduct training for management, supervisors, and workers on health and safety practices and legislation.
  • Emergency Procedures: Coordinate emergency procedures, including fire fighting, first aid, and other safety protocols.
  • Communication: Frequently Communicate with management regarding the status of the occupational health and safety program.
  • Policy Development: Develop occupational health and safety systems, including policies, procedures, and manuals.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience in health and safety roles within telecommunications or manufacturing industries.
  • Relevant safety training certifications (e.g., SHE Q, Safety Representative).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.

Candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Integrity, honesty, and adherence to company policies.
  • Energetic with a proactive approach to site inspections.
