About the Role

An established higher education institution is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Public Health to lead and manage the academic function of the School on campus. This role is ideal for a senior academic professional with a passion for teaching excellence, student success, and strategic academic leadership.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving academic quality, leading faculty development, strengthening industry partnerships, and ensuring alignment with institutional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Public Health School on campus
  • Drive excellence in teaching, learning, and student academic performance
  • Monitor student results and implement targeted interventions for at-risk students
  • Lead and develop academic staff through performance management and ongoing support
  • Oversee curriculum delivery, academic material development, and assessment processes
  • Support programme development and accreditation initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior academic leadership and campus management
  • Manage academic operations including student support, tracking, and academic administration
  • Build and maintain strong industry relationships to support student placement and partnerships
  • Represent the institution at industry forums, academic committees, and professional bodies
  • Contribute to research output and promote a culture of scholarship
  • Master's Degree in Public Health or a related field (NQF Level 9)
  • 3-5 years' experience in teaching and learning within higher education
  • At least 2 years' experience in an academic management or leadership role
  • Strong understanding of higher education regulatory frameworks
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement ability
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to analyse academic data and drive performance improvements
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced academic environment
  • Demonstrated experience in academic development and change management
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Public Health or a related field (NQF Level 9)
  • 3-5 years' experience in teaching and learning within higher education
  • At least 2 years' experience in an academic management or leadership role
  • Strong understanding of higher education regulatory frameworks

Additional Information
  • Lecturing responsibilities: Up to 2 modules per semester (or reduced load if involved in research)
  • Involvement in research, student supervision, and academic initiatives is expected
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
