Head of Learning Support
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Head of Learning Support to lead and develop learning support provision in our School. This position is central to ensuring that girls who present with barriers to learning are accurately identified, effectively supported, and empowered to achieve their academic potential within an inclusive education environment.
TO QUALIFY TO JOIN OUR SENIOR SCHOOL TEAM AS THE HEAD OF LEARNING SUPPORT YOU WOULD:- Have a suitable professional qualification in remedial and inclusive education and the appropriate educational experience OR be a Speech and Language Therapist OR an Educational Psychologist with a remedial background.
- Have experience teaching Senior School English, Mathematics and/or Afrikaans (Grades 8 and 9) in a similar school environment to St John's D.S.G (advantageous).
- Have a genuine commitment to the academic, emotional and personal development of girls.
- Have a sound understanding of strategies and the latest research to assist learners with barriers to learning and to support teachers of mixed ability classes.
- Have an understanding and passion for girls who learn differently and the ability to devise effective programmes for them.
- Have the ability to manage learner profiles for girls experiencing barriers to learning.
- Have experience in administering and interpreting standardised assessments and educational assessments.
- Be patient, learner-centered, professional, discreet and ethical.
- Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be warm, engaging, resilient, honest, genuine, empathetic and kind.
- Have excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
- Have strong values that align to the Christian ethos of the school.
- Have a high level of computer competency and be willing to learn new systems.
- Have a clear criminal clearance certificate.
- Be SACE registered.
