About the role

The Handy Man role is a hands on position responsible for delivering high-quality general maintenance services across multiple client sites. The role requires a skilled and dependable individual who can work independently, manage and support a small on site team, and respond efficiently to day to day maintenance requirements and call outs. With a strong focus on safety, service delivery, and client satisfaction, the Handy Man will ensure that facilities are maintained to agreed standards while complying with all health, safety, and operational procedures. The role also involves accurate digital reporting, effective communication with clients and management, and supporting specialist teams as required.

What you will bring
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in general building and facilities maintenance
  • Experience in supervising or managing a team, including coordinating tasks and providing on site guidance
  • Trade related qualification or technical certificate in building maintenance, construction, or a related field will be advantageous
  • Proven hands on skills in:
    • Carpentry
    • Painting
    • Ceiling repairs
    • Dry walling
    • Basic masonry work
    • Welding
    • Plumbing
    • Office furniture repairs
    • Carpet and blind repairs
    • Tiling
    • Lighting
  • Knowledge of chemicals, tools, and machinery relevant to maintenance work
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices, including the safe handling of chemicals and equipment
  • Ability to use a smartphone and mobile applications for job cards, reporting, and checklists
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between sites
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients on site
  • High level of reliability, integrity, and attention to detail

These skills are qualifying criteria for the role but are not limited to the above.

What you will be doing
  • Performing general building maintenance and repair work across multiple client sites
  • Supervising and supporting on site team members, including allocating tasks and ensuring work is completed to standard
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior or less experienced staff
  • Assisting the Electrical, HVAC, and Handy Man teams as required
  • Attending to site call outs timeously, including ad hoc repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Managing day to day call outs and ensuring all tasks are tracked and completed
  • Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly site checks in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Completing all required administration, including digital job cards, reports, supplier invoices, and delivery notes
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures at all times
  • Performing standby duties as required
