Job Description

Job Purpose

To perform basic maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment and other small jobs at One on Whiteley that may be required from time to time and as requested by Management.

Key Outcomes of the Position
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
  • Written daily reporting of maintenance activities such as status of job attended to.
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labouring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of mechanical and structural systems and equipment.
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labouring duties related to general handyman functions in trades such as carpentry, painting, furnisher movement, repair of doors and furniture, plumbing, mechanical and minor civil works.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12/N3, Level 2 First Aid, Level 2 Fire Fighting.
  • Preference: Basic MS Office, Scaffold License, NQF 4 Trade Certificate or higher.
Work Experience

Five years technical working experience in a facilities department or as a tradesman in a maintenance department.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to solve daily maintenance related challenges.
  • A good team player.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and Measurements conversions from metric to imperial and v/v.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Must have general knowledge and skills in all-round maintenance requiring the application of general knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques, materials, tools and equipment within a safe manner.
  • Maintain equipment to its optimum performance level by monitoring and performing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks with an emphasis on safety and quality of work.
Special Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, to include after-hours on call 24/7.
  • Ability to interpret or work from sketches, building plans, specifications and oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, darkness, or poor lighting conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically tasks, stand for long periods, climb ladders and work from high places, and bend, stoop, reach, lift and move at least thirty-five (35) kgs.
