A trusted family owned business is looking for a reliable and detail oriented Half Day Bookkeeper to take full ownership of the day to day finance function. This is a permanent role, working 08h00 to 13h00, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around start and finish times.

This opportunity offers stability and long term growth within a small business environment. It is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who thrives on structure, accuracy, and hands on collaboration with business owners in managing operational and financial processes.

Responsibilities

Accounts Management

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure accurate allocations
  • Manage collections and follow up on outstanding debtors
  • Maintain organised financial records and supporting documentation

Reconciliations

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile credit card statements

Payroll Support

  • Support the payroll process (payroll is outsourced)
  • Accurately capture payroll information on Excel spreadsheets
  • Submit payroll data to the external payroll service provider
  • Ensure payroll inputs are correct and submitted on time

VAT & Compliance

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of VAT returns
  • Manage SARS eFiling submissions where required
  • Ensure supporting documentation is accurate and complete

Daily & Weekly Financial Oversight

  • Manage daily cash ups
  • Conduct weekly updates on accounts
  • Provide general financial support to management
  • Respond to financial queries and provide insights where needed
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Relevant bookkeeping or finance qualification is advantageous
  • Minimum 8 years bookkeeping experience
  • Experience in a small business environment advantageous
  • Experience with Excel and Pastel is essential
  • Solid reconciliation experience (bank and credit card)
  • Understanding of VAT and SARS eFiling processes
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Organised and deadline driven
  • Trustworthy and discreet
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Proactive and hands on
  • Clear communicator who can support non financial management
