SAE Institute is looking for a passionate and qualified gaming facilitator to join their creative academic team. The purpose of this role is to teach game development and production and inspire young minds at our Rosebank campus in Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and facilitate the normal day to day demands of lecturing, lesson planning, delivery, develop and conduct appropriate practical and theoretical assessments, as well as teaching and learning materials pertinent to modules, administration, student support and review.
  • Have competency in every aspect of the qualification's academic integrity, student support, academic content development, evaluation, moderation, assessment of learning as well as supporting SAE Institute's vision and mission.
Requirements
  • Experience in the field of games development and design of a minimum of 2 years preferred.
  • Classroom management and workshop facilitation skills: A minimum of 2 years' recent experience in an academic or training environment preferred.
  • Must have rights to live and work in South Africa.
  • Must be knowledgeable about game narrative and writing, game studies and theory.
  • Good understanding of basic C# programming.
  • Must have solid experience of the Unity gaming engine. Unreal Engine would be a plus.
  • Sample work that demonstrates competency in game development and production.
  • Experience in 3D and 2D Unity workflows, 3D game asset creation is a requirement.
  • AR and VR knowledge in Unity would be a bonus.
  • Understanding of multiplayer & networking in Unity would be a bonus.
  • Knowledge of the gaming industry (e.g. marketing and social media) preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of research and critical thinking practices.
  • Possess communication, interpersonal skills, administration skills, be organised and possess.
  • Collaborative and willing to work with fellow lecturers and the HOA to support students.
  • Consistently positive & patient with support to students.
