Job Description

The Financial Modeller will be responsible for developing and maintaining bankable financial models to support equity and debt fundraising for renewable energy and infrastructure assets. The role underpins project finance, portfolio raises, and refinancings by producing accurate, auditable, and investor-ready models that reflect technical, commercial, and regulatory realities.

Position of the job in the organisation

The Financial Modeller will report directly to the Head of Fundraising.

Principal responsibilities Financial Modelling (Renewables Focus)
  • Build and maintain project-level and portfolio-level financial models for solar PV, and BESS
  • Model construction and operating phase cash flows, including capex profiles, opex, degradation, availability, and lifecycle costs.
  • Incorporate funding structures such as senior debt, mezzanine, equity, and shareholder loans.
  • Calculate and analyse IRR, NPV, DSCR, LLCR, PLCR, and covenant compliance.
Fundraising & Project Finance Support
  • Support equity raises, project finance, refinancing, and portfolio funding transactions.
  • Align financial models with PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, Funding agreements and grid/lease assumptions.
  • Prepare lender and investor model outputs, sensitivities, and downside cases.
  • Respond efficiently to lender, investor, and IC model-related queries during live deals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Development, Engineering, Commercial, and Legal teams to validate assumptions.
  • Translate technical and commercial inputs into robust financial outcomes.
  • Support senior stakeholders with financial inputs for investment memos and fundraising packs.
Governance & Model Integrity
  • Maintain best-practice modelling standards, documentation, and version control.
  • Ensure models are audit-ready and capable of third-party review.
  • Proactively identify risks, inconsistencies, or overly aggressive assumptions.
Experience & Skills
  • 3-6+ years' experience in financial modelling, project finance, or investment analysis.
  • Proven exposure to renewables, infrastructure, or asset-backed financing.
  • Experience supporting lender or investor-facing transactions.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills (non-negotiable).
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project finance fundamentals.
  • Ability to build clear, flexible models that withstand lender scrutiny.

  • Comfortable operating under pressure during live fundraising processes.
  • Confident in challenging assumptions while staying solutions-focused.
What Does Success Look Like? by 3 Months
  • I will be fully embedded in existing renewable energy models and funding structures.
  • I will demonstrate a clear understanding of PPAs, EPC, O&M, and finance agreements and how these flow through financial models.
  • I will deliver accurate model updates with minimal rework required.
by 6 Months
  • I will independently build and adjust fundraising models for solar and BESS assets.
  • I will actively support live equity and debt raises with credible, investor-ready financial outputs.
  • I will be trusted by Finance and Development teams for modelling accuracy and sound financial judgement.
by 12 Months
  • I will lead financial modelling support for major fundraising and refinancing transactions.
  • I will produce models that consistently withstand lender and investor scrutiny with limited findings.
  • I will be recognised internally as a go-to specialist for renewable energy financial modelling.
