Job Description
Project Implementation Support Unit (PISU) forms part of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and supports Transnet in advancing South Africa's shift toward low carbon, climate resilient transport infrastructure. Funded through the EU supported IIPSA grant and aligned with the EIB's Decarbonisation Framework Loan, the PISU provides end to end support across project preparation, procurement, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Its work enables the decarbonisation of key rail and port assets while strengthening governance, planning systems, and institutional capacity to deliver long term energy transition investments.
What you will do- 12+ years' experience, including 3+ years in Sub Saharan Africa (South Africa an advantage).
- 7+ years in financial management, compliance, contract administration, financial modelling, business case development and risk assessment.
- 5+ years managing teams across procurement, costing, scheduling, accounting, finance, and legal disciplines.
- Finance/contract management responsibility for at least two large infrastructure projects (CAPEX > EUR 50m) in the past 10 years.
- Knowledge of financing instruments including PPPs, grants, loans and other mechanisms.
- Knowledge of South African regulatory frameworks for financial management, contracts, and procurement (advantage).
- Experienced in planning, organising and executing projects within budget and timelines.
- Skilled in monitoring financial performance, contract compliance, and project level risk management.
- Proven experience working with IFIs such as the EU, EIB, AfDB, WB, AFD/Proparco, FMO and KfW.
- University degree in engineering, finance, accounting, law, or related discipline, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in oral and written English language.
