Job Description

Our client, a well-established agricultural operation within the citrus industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Farm Manager (Citrus) to oversee farming operations within the Addo area.

Requirements
  • Agricultural degree / diploma is highly advantageous but not a requirement.
  • 3-5 years' experience at a middle management / farm manager level in the citrus industry.
  • Must be innovative and detail-oriented
  • Capable of managing multiple and high-priority tasks.
  • Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines
  • Must be willing to live in Addo.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the crop estimation process: liaise with farm managers to obtain all information, consolidate information and
    link with Supply Chain to convey information for planning purposes. Continuously update information as estimation changes.
  • Responsible to implement and manage the following farming activities:
    • Fertilizer program
    • Spray program.
    • Prune program.
    • New planting when necessary
    • Harvesting plan - it is important that the Farm Manager plays a strong leadership role to ensure that harvesting is
      happening as required. The Farm Manager must also constantly liaise with the Area Manager and the packhouse to
      ensure the coordination between harvesting and packing.
  • Ensure day to day farm activities and cost stay within the approved budget.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of processes and day to day operations to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Build and maintain relationship with support departments and employees.
