An established and fast-growing fresh fruit and vegetable exporter is seeking a driven Export Logistics Coordinator to keep their world class produce moving smoothly across borders.

This position is full time on site, permanent role (Mon Friday 8am - 4pm) located close to Cape Town International Airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Export Coordination:
    • Plan, book and manage multiple air freight exports of fresh produce to global markets from various locations with freight forwarders.
    • Secure cargo space with freight forwarders and airlines based on forecasted volumes and customer orders.
    • Coordinate loading schedules, packhouse dispatches, and collection timing to maintain cold chain integrity.
  • Documentation:
    • Prepare and verify all export documentation including air waybills, invoices, packing lists, phytosanitary certificates, export permits, and certificates of origin.
    • Ensure documentation accuracy to prevent clearance delays at destination markets.
    • Ensure customers received documentation timeously.
    • Verify freight invoices, cross check against quotations, and highlight discrepancies.
  • Communication:
    • Act as the contact point between internal teams (Sales, Procurement, Quality), freight agents, and customers.
    • Notify customers and agents of any delays, flight changes, or operational challenges.
    • Maintain professional communication and positive relationships with service providers and partners.
  • Reporting and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate shipment tracking logs and documentation archives.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of air freight logistics for perishable goods
  • Familiarity with international export documentation and regulatory processes
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational ability
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and administration skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to shared company goals
  • Proficiency in logistics systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as shipment tracking tools
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight export deadlines
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field is preferable
  • Minimum 2 3 years' experience in air freight export logistics, preferably in fresh produce or perishables
  • Experience liaising with freight forwarders
  • Working knowledge of export procedure
