Responsibilities
  • Engineering Leadership & People Management
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineering professionals across multiple disciplines
    • Set clear objectives, manage performance, and support skills development and succession planning
    • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-conscious engineering culture aligned with values
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability building within the engineering function
  • Project Engineering & Design Oversight
    • Oversee the end-to-end engineering design of greenhouse projects, including:
      • Structural design
      • Heating, ventilation and cooling systems
      • Irrigation and fertigation systems
      • Electrical and power systems
      • Automation, climate control, and control software
      • Integration of third-party technologies and supplier systems
    • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, project specifications, and budget constraints
    • Review, approve, and standardise engineering deliverables, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Research & Development (R&D)
    • Lead and coordinate local engineering R&D initiatives focused on greenhouse technologies and systems
    • Adapt and localise global technologies to suit regional crops, climates, regulations, and customer needs
    • Identify opportunities for product, system, and process innovation to improve performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability
    • Plan, prioritise, and manage R&D projects, including prototyping, testing, validation, and documentation
    • Collaborate with Group R&D, suppliers, and third-party technology partners to evaluate and integrate new solutions
    • Ensure successful transition of R&D outputs into standardised, commercially deployable solutions
  • Technical Governance & Quality Assurance
    • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines
    • Ensure compliance with relevant local regulations, international standards, and Group technical policies
    • Manage technical risk, value engineering, and constructability reviews
    • Drive continuous improvement in design quality, efficiency, and innovation
  • Cross-Functional & External Collaboration
    • Work closely with Sales, Project Management, Procurement, Agronomy, and Operations teams to ensure seamless project execution
    • Provide technical input during tendering, costing, and proposal stages
    • Liaise with external consultants, contractors, suppliers, and third-party technology providers
    • Act as the technical escalation point for complex or high-risk projects
  • Planning, Reporting & Operational Excellence
    • Support project planning, resourcing, and workload forecasting for the engineering team
    • Monitor engineering performance against timelines, quality, and cost targets
    • Maintain accurate records, reporting, and documentation using approved systems and tools
    • Ensure adherence to Group policies, ethics, and safety standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar)
  • Professional registration (or eligibility) will be advantageous
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years in an engineering management or lead role
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects, preferably in greenhouse, agricultural, industrial, or infrastructure environments
