ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

We are looking for an Employment Equity and Skills Development Specialist who is a go-getter, who is driven, energetic, committed and enjoys working in a dynamic and innovative environment. This individual would need to communicate exceptionally well with employees, clients, and stakeholders as well as build lasting and valuable relationships. They would need to be proactive, flexible; deadline driven and often take initiative. We value someone who is detail orientated, structured and who can function in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant is a thought leader and subject matter expert on Employment Equity and Skills Development. Having knowledge of various Human Resource functions, they would also provide support to their colleagues.

ABOUT THE POSITION

In this position, the specialist will be required to lead, manage, and grow a business unit within Transcend. They will lead the internal HR function of Transcend as well as engage and manage external clients.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities

  • Business Development and oversight of the Employment Equity and Skills Development business units within Transcend.
  • Monitoring, tracking, reporting, management and preparation of EE and Skills Development business units' budgets and targets.
  • Oversight, mentorship and development of junior EE and Skills Development consultants, including their billing portfolios.
  • Thought Leader in Employment Equity and Skills Development.
  • Working knowledge and subject matter expert on the Employment Equity Act and Skills Development Act.
  • Registered Skills Development Facilitator.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management and Communication (e.g., Department of Labour, Director Generals, Deputy Director Generals, SETAs, Accreditation Bodies etc.).
  • Speaker on various platforms (employment equity forums, webinars, committees, sector-specific forums).

Employment Equity Consulting Responsibilities

  • Constitute and advise on clients' Employment Equity committees.
  • Facilitate Employment Equity Committee Training.
  • Provision of communication and awareness information to be implemented in the organisation e.g., DOL reporting and inspection guidelines as well as amendments to legislation.
  • Advise on the compilation and quality check of the Employment Equity report and income differential statement.
  • Review Employment Equity Plans in line with client's and/or development of the plan in line with Employment Equity Analysis including Barriers and affirmative action measures.
  • Employment Equity Amendment Bill advisory, guidelines, training, and development of employment equity plans to ensure compliance with Employment Equity Amendment Bill.
  • Advice and assist clients with Department of Labour audits/queries.
  • Track and monitor the B-BBEE Management Control scorecard.
  • Provide, develop, and present relevant Employment Equity Reports or training material.

Skills Development Facilitation Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit WSP and ATR Reports for various clients and relevant SETAs.
  • Fulfil the role of Skills Development Facilitator for various clients.
  • Liaison and engagement with the various SETAs - ensuring that all business areas are made aware of any grants, internships, or changes within the SETAs.
  • Establish Skills Development committees and facilitate the meetings of the committee.
  • Aligning all current/planned training to the Company's BEE plans.
  • Track and monitor the B-BBEE Skills Development scorecard.
  • Assist in SETA grant application.
  • Provide, develop, and present relevant Skills Development Reports or training material.
