Main job function

Our client are an electrical automation business based in New Germnay, Pinetown. We are looking for an electronic repair tech that repairs down to component level on PCB boards & services existing electronic equipment on a component level. These duties will be performed in the workshop. They also will need to interpret electrical drawings and schematics in fault finding situations.

Objectives of the role
  • Carry out board level repairs and servo drive repairs down to component level
  • Record necessary information on reports so we have a historic database to refer back to
  • To understand electronic principles of drives and servo motors.
  • To detect electrical problems with drives and create quotations for repairs
  • Exercise accuracy and professionalism in repair work.
  • Manage all assigned jobs as per the companies requirements to provide smooth workflow in our business managment system
Responsibilities
  • Fault find and perform component level repairs on variable speed drives and electronic boards
  • Keep an accurate time sheet and enter labour hours into job management system
  • Sourcing of parts and creation of quotes that include estimation of labour
Required Skills
  • Proven working experience in a component level & soldering technicain role
  • Variable speed drive experience specifically important.
  • Solid understanding of electrical principles and electronic signals
  • Comprehensive experience in soldering and desoldering
  • Proven ability to fault find using electrical drawings
  • Detail orientated and organised
  • Hands-on experience with variable speed drives
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
  • Customer service driven
  • Relevant qaulifications for the elctronics industry
  • 5+ years of work experience in the electronics field
