We are a developer, investor, and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants, with 90 assets in operation, construction, or advanced development across 13 countries.

Job Purpose: To supervise the day to day electrical maintenance activities in the plant including preventive and corrective maintenance, planned outages and overhauling work activities for all electrical equipment in accordance with overall maintenance plans, HSE guidelines and quality standards to ensure effective functionality, plant availability and equipment reliability.

Key Accountabilties

People Management

Supervise the activities and work of the team members to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems.

Maintenance Management

  • Assign resources for the scheduled preventative maintenance / breakdowns, and major repair jobs in the plant to enable optimal functionality of electrical equipment in line with quality standards and provide timely completion of all jobs while reporting any deviations to the Electrical Engineer for action.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis on all electrical equipment to ensure smooth and trouble-free operations.
  • Test and validate the condition of equipment upon completion of repairs to confirm readiness in compliance to quality standards.
  • Perform inspections on regular basis to follow-up on work progress of all electrical technicians ensuring that work progress is carried out as per approved work schedule and appropriate resources are allocated while highlighting any non-conformances to the Electrical Engineer to ensure prompt action.

Participate in the investigation and specification of modifications to existing systems; assist the Electrical Engineer in the preparation of preliminary submissions including technical specifications and materials for modifications together with accompanying drawings, process diagrams and cost estimates.

Outage Management

Coordinate the planning and execution of the annual outage maintenance of critical electrical equipment, as per the recommendation of the OEM, and provide technical support to ensure the EHS, scope, cost, and timeline objectives are met.

Documentation

Ensure that all maintenance documentation for the electrical activities are completed correctly including the Maintenance Log, outlining the fault, method of repair and the time, labour and materials used to support timely availability of information.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Inventory Management

Monitor the material/spare parts requirement for the Electrical maintenance activities, and facilitate the procurement of stocks to ensure accurate and timely availability and replenishment of the required stock.

Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard maintenance procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.

Contribute in the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organisation's standards.

COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

Needs to work closely with Electrical Engineer, Electrical Technicians other maintenance teams, operations team

External:

Needs to build a rapport with relevant contractors, SAP and vendors

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Diploma in Electrical maintenance.
  • 10 years' experience in electrical maintenance such as installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment used in Power and Water desalination plants

Skills:

  • Practical Knowledge of relevant plant equipment
  • Awareness of HSE & quality standards
  • Knowledge of downtime analysis and good knowledge of problem solving tools
  • Knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance theory
  • Mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • Strong planning, organizing, and integration skills
