Job Summary

The Digital Marketing Manager - Performance & Operations is responsible for planning, executing, analysing, and optimising all digital marketing activity across the Group's retail dealership network and brands.

This role combines performance marketing ownership with marketing workflow coordination, ensuring that all campaigns are data-driven, measurable, and efficiently executed across internal teams, agencies, and OEM partners.

The primary objective of the role is to transform marketing into a revenue-driven function by improving lead quality, increasing conversion rates, and maximising return on marketing investment through continuous optimisation and data analysis. As the internal marketing function evolves, this role will increasingly serve as the central marketing operations and coordination function.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Marketing & Campaign Optimisation
  • Plan, launch, manage, and optimise paid digital campaigns across platforms (Google, Meta, programmatic, etc.)
  • Allocate budgets strategically based on performance, inventory priorities, and sales targets
  • Continuously optimise campaigns to improve cost per lead, conversion rates, and ROI
  • Conduct A/B testing across ads, audiences, and landing pages
  • Adjust campaigns dynamically using live performance data
  • Creating quarterly marketing plans for management sign off
Lead Intelligence & Revenue Analysis
  • Analyse leads across platforms, CRM systems, and dealer data
  • Track lead to sale conversion by source, brand, region, and campaign
  • Identify high quality vs low quality lead sources and optimise spend accordingly
  • Work closely with sales teams to gather feedback on lead quality
  • Improve funnel performance from click lead appointment sale
Tracking, Attribution & Reporting
  • Ensure accurate tracking and tagging across all digital campaigns
  • Implement and maintain attribution models
  • Monitor campaign performance daily
  • Produce weekly and monthly performance reports
  • Build dashboards showing real time performance insights
  • Identify underperforming channels early and recommend corrective action
Agency & Vendor Performance Management
  • Manage digital agency relationships and performance standards
  • Review media strategies and optimisation approaches
  • Ensure agency recommendations are data driven and commercially aligned
  • Ensure campaigns launch correctly, track accurately, and deliver measurable results
Marketing Workflow Coordination (Scalable Function)
  • Act as the central intake point for marketing briefs from internal stakeholders
  • Translate business objectives into structured briefs for creative and media teams
  • Route projects to the appropriate internal or external resources
  • Prioritise work based on urgency, impact, and commercial value
  • Coordinate timelines to ensure campaigns launch on schedule
  • Maintain visibility across all active campaigns
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements

Future Scope

As the internal team expands, this role will increasingly own marketing workflow management, functioning as the operational link between strategy, data, and execution.

Strategic Optimisation & Growth
  • Align marketing spend with OEM and vehicle stock priorities and sales targets
  • Ensure that OEM Marketing support is maximised to the benefit of the business
  • Recommend budget reallocations to top performing campaigns
  • Identify new platforms, tools, or channels to improve performance
  • Provide insights to management based on marketing data trends

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Strong experience in performance-driven digital marketing.
  • Highly analytical, data-driven, and commercially minded.
  • Proven ability to optimise marketing spend for revenue impact.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on execution.
  • Experience working with agencies and OEM marketing environments will be advantageous.

Must possess the following technical and platform requirements:

  • Paid media platform experience (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.)
  • Analytics platforms (GA4 or equivalent)
  • Tagging and tracking tools (Tag Manager or similar)
  • CRM and lead tracking systems
  • Reporting/dashboard tools (Looker Studio, Power BI, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, or Data Analytics will be advantageous.
