Site Operations Department The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and performance of all data modules in our data centers. This team is the face of Vantage to our customers and the guarantee of business continuity and excellence of Operations of our campus as well as the performance of our customer installations. Using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and track maintenance activities, the Site Operations department is responsible for all preventative and corrective maintenance. Position Overview We are looking for a Critical Facilities Technician who knows what best-in-class service looks like and can make that a reality. This role is an important member of our facilities team where we manage some of the most efficient and cost-effective data center facilities in the industry.The successful candidate for this role will work with a team of other electrical and mechanical-focused engineers performing maintenance and repair for our data center infrastructure. We take our customer requirements for uptime seriously and keep our facilities maintained to a very high standard to insure uninterrupted service for our customers.If you enjoy working on critical data center systems (UPSs, PDUs, Diesel Generators, ATS equipment, and Building Controls), as well as industrial electrical equipment and systems that include power distribution components/wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems. If you enjoy delighting customers with superior service and you have the desire and ability to do so, then please read on! KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs) Custodian of engineering assets on site. Ensure that all assets receive the necessary life cycle and enhancement services. Ensure that assets are controlled and operated according to the necessary operational specifications. Ensure that all engineering services are always efficiently, effectively maintained, and controlled according to the Client's specifications as stated in the applicable agreements. Implement maintenance and operational standards to comply with the service standards specified and ensure optimal operation of data centre infrastructure services. Manage and implement innovation and other initiatives to improve availability, reliability, and asset life cycle. Ensures the high reliability and availability of the data centre and related equipment. Conducts highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility systems. Performs advanced maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations. Resolves incidents and develops new and updated procedures for operation purposes Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and addresses alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative. Provides recommendations for new procedures to the management team. Implements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of improvement. Duties: VENDOR MANAGEMENT: Managing vendors for maintenance activities. Directs vendors in highly skilled tasks to ensure compliance with standards and requirements. Creates scripts for maintenance and submits them. Tracks and manages the work approval process for critical service providers, including briefing at the start of work, day-to-day control of work, and final review. SITE ADMINISTRATION & INCIDENT SUPPORT: Completes complex site logs and gathers data for issuing permits. Developing operation procedures, such as MOPs, EOPs, SOPs and scripts. Identifies and escalates process discrepancies to the chief engineer. Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommends new procedures. Respond to all on-site incidents, including major failures, significant problems, and delays. Assists with Root Cause Analysis (RCA). WORK ORDERS & ADDITIONAL PROJECTS: Completing work requests and orders and powering PDUs within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and designated maintenance window. Coordinates advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment as needed, supporting auxiliary equipment and machines to minimise downtime. Executes moderate modifications to mechanical, electrical, and specialised systems as instructed. Conducts assessments of capacity management. COLLABORATION: Collaborates with other team members to resolve difficult facility incidents and identify underlying issues. Acts as a support team member when identifying component-level faults and recommending new procedures. It may serve as an escalation point for processes related to maintaining inventory. Advises other team members on repairs and preventative maintenance. Acts as a support in implementing highly skilled, complex projects. Requirements: ND Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or N6 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with Trade Test Matric (Senior Certificate) 3-5yrs relevant experience in the Data Centre (Maintenance) field Practical knowledge of working on Air Circuit Breakers, UPS, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, FCU, Generators and PLCs MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook (Intermediate skill level) Knowledge of the OHS Act. Assisting the GMR 2.1 in supervising all machinery (mechanical and electrical) on the site, according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirementsWe operate with No Ego and No Arrogance.
