CREDITORS SUPERVISOR/TEAM LEAD

Jonathan Ball Publishers has a vacancy for an experienced Creditors Supervisor/Team Lead in its Denver, Johannesburg offices. This position will report directly to the Finance Manager and requires a detail-oriented individual with strong numerical skills, the ability to work fast and accurately under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

What will you do?

  • Ensure that all supplier payment terms are adhered to and payments are made within agreed timelines.
  • Supervise and manage the Local Creditors Clerk and Foreign Creditors Clerk, including reviewing their work and providing guidance.
  • Monitor and manage the creditors email address, ensuring all queries and invoices are attended to promptly.
  • Ensure that all supplier invoices and payments are accurately captured and processed on time.
  • Review and approve local and foreign creditors' month-end reconciliations.
  • Monitor and review the local and foreign creditors ageing reports, ensuring overdue items are investigated and resolved.
  • Maintain and oversee the creditors master file, ensuring supplier information is accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare and submit BBBEE reporting information related to creditors where required.
  • Ensure all month-end deadlines are met in line with the finance calendar.
  • Assist with balance sheet accounts affecting creditors, including the advances account and petty cash.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of weekly and monthly payment schedules before submission for approval.
  • Manage and resolve supplier queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure that the banking details are correct at all times.
  • Liaise with the foreign supplier if there's any dispute.
  • Approval of foreign supplier invoices and credit notes.
  • Ensure all foreign supplier invoices and credit notes are captured.

What you will need?

  • Relevant Accounting Qualification or equivalent diploma/degree
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' relevant experience
  • High level of speed, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong results orientation with a commitment to meeting objectives
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Computer literacy in the MS Office suite
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A Bias for Action and Results Orientation
