Job Purpose

The Cost Accountant will play a key role in managing and analysing the organisation's cost structures to support informed pricing decisions and drive financial efficiency. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate cost accounting systems, analysing product and manufacturing costs, and providing actionable insights through detailed reports.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organisation.
  • Analyse and recommend product costs and cost savings.
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
  • Analyse the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
  • Analyse any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost.
  • Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Maintain product and formulation master data.
  • Consolidate sales forecasts from different business units.
  • Incorporate sales forecasts into production plan to determine raw material demands.
  • Measure and report on actual sales and production figures compared to forecasts and revise production plans.
  • Communicate any discrepancies between forecasts and actuals with relevant parts of the business to take necessary action.

  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Minimum Requirements
  • BCom Finance degree
  • 1 to 3 years' experience as an Accountant, specifically Cost Accounting experience
  • Candidates without the above qualifications but with relevant costing or cost accounting experience will also be considered
Other Specific Requirements
  • Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Please note that this is not a visa sponsored position and all applicants must be legally authorized to work in South Africa on a full-time basis.
