Control Room Operator

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Control Room Operator to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the Projects Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. • Effective execution of control room operations to ensure daily production targets are met
• Effective monitoring and control of all services and infrastructure during a shift e.g. portable water supply for underground use, pumps, fans, conveyor belts etc.
• Assist with / supervise the daily activities of the Control Room Assistants site specific
• Report system malfunctions immediately and lead communications to advise system users of outages and progress as per predetermined notification process
• Accurate recording of standing hours and outage times, elevate anomalies to Supervisor
• Apply appropriate stand by and/or call out procedures
• Compile reports as requested by Supervisor
• Maintain and operate the control room systems / functions to quality standards
• Maintain good control room housekeeping standards
• Effective team and self-management in alignment with Cementation Africa's values
• Effective risk identification and mitigation within the respective legislative frameworks, quality standards, policies and procedures, elevate and report accordingly

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent (with Mathematics & Science)
• Valid Trade Certificate
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
• Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Good English verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate clearly over radio systems
• Ability to supervise a team site specific
• Attentive to detail
• Planning and organizing skills
• Systems and process oriented
• Proactive with ability to plan ahead
• Ability to adapt to changing technologies
• Deciding and initiating action within agreed parameters in a pressurised environment

• At least 4 years of experience in trackless underground mining as an Artisan
• At least 3 years of experience as a Control Room Assistant preferred
