# Contracts Manager (Construction)Sasso Consulting Client Job DescriptionPurpose of role:Oversee all contract management activities from award through to close-out: tender admin, contract negotiation, variation control, claims management, contract close-out. Ensure commercial integrity, minimise risk, protect margins, and ensure compliance with contract terms.Key Responsibilities:Drafting, reviewing and negotiating main and subcontract agreements (standard forms such as JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, GCC).Authorising contract variations, extensions of time, claims, etc.Liaising with site teams, legal advisors, commercial teams to monitor contract performance and ensure deliverables.Maintaining contract records, ensuring deadlines and financial obligations are met.Providing reports on contract status, risks, and claims to senior management.Work with procurement, QS, project management teams to align contract strategy with project objectives.Required Experience & Qualifications:At least 7 years' solid experience in contract management in construction (preferably civil or major building projects).Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law or Commercial Management (or equivalent).Knowledge of standard contract forms, change control procedures, claims and dispute resolution. Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, risk-management mindset. Desired but not mandatory: Professional registration or certification (e.g., SACPCMP, RICS, PCSA)Experience with international contract forms and large scale/complex projects.Key Competencies:Contractual & commercial strategy Negotiation & influencing Risk management & mitigation Financial analysis & cost control Stakeholder management Communication & presentation Performance metrics: Contract variation value kept within approved thresholds Claims and disputes resolved with minimal cost/risk Timely contract close-out Achievement of margin/profitability targets
