Gibela stands as Africa's largest train manufacturing and passenger trains maintenance company, holding steadfast to its commitment to spearheading the revival of the South African railway sector. With a transformative vision, Gibela endeavoured to catalyse the shift towards commuter rail as the preferred mode of transport for urban communities.

We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for a 24 months Graduate Programme under Services. The position will report to APSYS & CI Manager and is based at Midrand.

Job Purpose

The programme offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills in the transport rail manufacturing industry. Participants will experience a dynamic and challenging work environment, collaborating with various teams across the organization. The role includes servicing and maintaining high quality products, as well as supporting the monitoring of compliance with Gibela's requirements and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and drives Continuous Improvement initiatives across sites, aligning activities to APSYS standards and roadmaps.
  • Leads 5S deployment, Gemba walks, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping to eliminate process constraints and improve performance.
  • Develops automated performance dashboards, analyzes data, and consolidates REX feedback to strengthen decision-making.
  • Supports layout optimization, lean construction, digitalization, and implementation of best practices across Gibela Services.
  • Monitors maintenance performance, including alignment with PRASA requirements, while facilitating training and employee suggestion programs.
Qualifications
  • South African citizen between 18 and 35 years of age
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • MS Office literate
