Construction Supervisor
Free State, Bloemfontein

We are seeking a dynamic Construction Supervisor to oversee and drive excellence across a variety of construction disciplines. This is your opportunity to be part of a company known for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across South Africa.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Please do not apply for this position if you do not meet the minimum requirements contained herein as your application will be rejected.
  • Minimum of 7 years construction supervision experience.
  • Conversant with Construction Regulations and OHS Act.
  • MS Office proficiency and strong administrative skills.
  • Team player and able to perform under pressure.
  • Demonstrable experience in training and management of unskilled labour.
  • Understanding of relevant Standards and the ability to work in accordance with Design Drawings.
  • Conversant with preparation of DSTI's, Daily Diaries and conducting Toolbox talks.
  • Demonstrable experience in production planning, material planning and stock control to ensure achievement of production targets.
  • Good communication skills, able to resolve conflict.
  • A proven track record in successfully completing construction on time, safely and compliant with technical & quality requirements and standards.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing Subcontractors to stringent time and quality metrics
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
  • Must have experience in all aspects of road maintenance and construction
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
JOB SPECIFICATION
  • Ensure the achievement of production targets while being cognisant of the applicable quality standard.
  • Enforce a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Ensure allowable are met for the applicable area of responsibility and report daily variances to the Construction Manager.
  • Track and understand emerging construction practices and standards.
  • Monitor and coordinate the use of plant and materials.
  • Calculate and monitor resources required and report any variance to Management.
  • Supervise and lead sub-contractors and subordinates.
  • Communicate job expectations and work targets to the construction team.
  • Inform the Construction Manager or Assistant Construction Manager of subordinate changes or requirements and ensure Job expectations and work targets are met.
  • Ensure timeous submission of Site documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate the workings of subordinates and sub-contractors.
  • Provide methodology and technical assistance to the team.
  • Understand Scope of Works for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure customer centricity and compliance with policies and procedures that are site specific.
  • Manage employees' and customers' expectations and communicate appropriately.
  • Show commitment to teamwork and a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve team objectives.
  • Consistently maintain high standards of professionalism in all aspects of personal presentation and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational systems, structures, policies and procedures to achieve results.
  • Demonstrate initiative in follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained.
  • Provide appropriate resolution for tasks or deadlines not met.
  • Support and drive the business' core values.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.
