Job DescriptionRole OverviewThe Construction Director will oversee all construction activities across multiple sites, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with organisational quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage large, complex, multi-disciplinary construction programmes from planning through to handover.Minimum Requirements (Non-negotiable - must meet 95% for shortlist)Qualifications & Professional RegistrationPostgraduate qualification REQUIRED(e.g., MSc/MEng Construction Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or similar)Professional registration preferred(e.g., PrEng / PrCPM / PrQS / PMP or equivalent)Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field(implied as prerequisite to postgraduate studies)ExperienceMinimum 7 years of solid, proven construction management/director-level experience(Preferably managing large multi-million-rand projects)Strong experience overseeing contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated success in managing complex construction programmes from inception to completionProven track record of managing project budgets, timelines, procurement, risk, and complianceExperience working on projects in Gauteng will be beneficialTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of construction methodologies, building regulations, health and safety standards, and compliance requirementsAbility to review technical drawings, construction schedules, BOQs, and quality standardsExpertise in risk management, cost control, contract administration, and tender processesProficiency in MS Project, MS Office, and construction management softwareLeadership & Soft SkillsStrong leadership and team-management capabilityExcellent communication and stakeholder managementAbility to make high-level strategic decisions under pressureStrong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skillsHighly organised, analytical, and deadline-drivenKey ResponsibilitiesLead and direct all construction activities across multiple project sitesOversee planning, scheduling, resourcing, and execution of projectsEnsure all projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory complianceManage budgets, cost controls, procurement, and project financial performanceDrive contractor and subcontractor performanceResolve technical, operational, and commercial challengesMaintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholdersConduct progress reviews, issue logs, risk assessments, and quality auditsProvide high-level reporting to executive leadershipEnsure handover documentation, snag lists, and final completion are effectively managed
