We are offering an exciting opportunity for the position of Code 14 Truck Driver. In this role you will play a crucial part in supporting our vision of becoming a great place to work for all.
Role OutlineEnsure efficient and correct delivery of goods in a time sensitive and professional manner, according to operational procedures and standards. Control and manage the delivery process, maintain the highest customer service standards, minimise losses and uphold the company's integrity.
Key Accountabilities- Vehicle and equipment care - ensure vehicles are kept in good running order.
- Maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Use vehicle and other company equipment correctly and report defects in a timely manner.
- Report and record any non conformity with respect to customer merchandise.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene in the vehicle.
- Work within operating areas as determined by management and business needs.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safe working practices as per the Driver Manual.
- Ensure all documentation is accounted for and completed as instructed.
- Co operate with Operations to ensure correct inventory on vehicle for delivery.
- Execute delivery of all goods as per the load manifest.
- Perform a daily vehicle inspection using the checklist.
- Drive the vehicle safely and courteously.
- Complete manifest documentation accurately and timely.
- Report discrepancies to Manager/Supervisor.
- Report to Operations for loading in a timely manner.
- Count and compare the number of parcels per customer and match to the manifest document/invoice.
- Load deliveries in the sequence of off loading.
- Sign the manifest acknowledging and accepting accountability for parcels.
- Follow customer delivery sequence; record arrival and departure times on the Trip sheet.
- Ensure customer signs for correct goods.
- Communicate politely and professionally, promoting respect, goodwill and trust.
- Wear the company uniform proudly, ensuring it is clean and presentable.
- Attend de briefing upon return from the trip.
Matric.
Valid Code 14 and valid PDP/working knowledge of K53 (no endorsements).
DPDHL Core Competencies & Skills- Good written and communication skills; understanding of basic arithmetic principles.
- Ability to understand instructions and accurately carry them out.
- Negotiation skill under stress.
- Capacity to work in a fast paced environment.
English - verbal and written.
