Job Description
Ensures a safe, contamination free environment for storage and handling of FMCG products by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the warehouse in compliance with food safety standards.
Cleaning and Sanitation- Perform routine cleaning of warehouse floors, racking areas, dispatch zones, receiving areas, offices, ablutions and common spaces.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and wipe surfaces according to cleaning schedules.
- Clean spillages immediately to prevent contamination and safety hazards.
- Sanitize high touch surfaces (e.g., door handles, equipment controls).
- Ensure cleaning of staff facilities (canteen, change rooms, restrooms).
- Collect, segregate, and dispose of waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of recyclable and hazardous waste.
- Maintain cleanliness of waste storage areas.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Prevent cross contamination by using designated cleaning tools per area.
- Follow colour coded cleaning systems where applicable.
- Report any contamination risks, pest sightings, or damaged goods immediately.
- Support pest control measures by maintaining a clean environment.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Ensure correct dilution and application of cleaning agents.
- Maintain and store cleaning equipment properly after use.
- Report faulty equipment or low stock levels of cleaning materials.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents.
- Place warning signage during cleaning activities (e.g., wet floor signs).
- Complete cleaning checklists and logs accurately and on time.
- Sign off daily, weekly, and deep clean schedules.
- Report deviations from cleaning standards to the supervisor.
- Grade 12 equivalent.
- Previous cleaning experience in a warehouse or FMCG environment (advantageous).
- Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Understanding of food safety standards.
- Attention to detail.

- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
- Safety conscious.
- Flexibility to assist warehouse operations in other departments when necessary due to operational requirements.
