Job Description

Santam Corporate Property ('SCP') is seeking to hire a Claims Specialist to be based in our offices in Illovo, Johannesburg.

What will you do?
  • Management and administration of claims in terms of Corporate Assets, All Risk Property Damage, Mining, and Business Interruption policies
  • Management of reinsurance claims (treaty and facultative)
  • Appointment and management of external resources, e.g., loss adjuster, attorneys, etc.
  • Liaising with / updating co insurers, brokers, reinsurance brokers, and other stakeholders on claims
  • Reporting to management and other interested stakeholders on claims
  • Ad hoc tasks
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years corporate/commercial property and business interruption claims management experience
  • Understanding of corporate/commercial property damage and business interruption policy wordings
  • Understanding of treaty and facultative reinsurance claims management
  • Matric qualification (suitable tertiary education would be a preference)
  • Fully FAIS compliant/able to attain FAIS compliant status within 3 years of joining SCP
  • IISA qualification/membership (or to be attained within 2 years of joining SCP)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Attention to detail / analytical thinking
  • Solution orientated
  • Mathematically astute
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (specific emphasis on Excel data analysis and reporting abilities)
  • Excellent workflow management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interaction, building and maintaining of relationships within the corporate property market
