Job Description

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Valid License Code 8
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant door-to-door experience

Job Description Delivery
  • Ensure the right products get delivered to the right store/customer at the right time.
  • Use the shortest and most efficient route to the delivery destination and back to the warehouse.
  • Adhere to warehouse loading and unloading policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all deliveries are correctly checked and signed for by the client.
  • Be fully accountable for all damages and losses throughout the delivery process.
  • Act as a professional representative of the company and adhere to the company uniform policy.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is loaded as per the delivery log sheet and company procedures.
  • Offload the correct goods for the required practice in such a manner as to prevent damages.
  • Assist with the unpacking where required.
  • Indicate every stop on the daily Driver Trip Sheets when required.
  • Take used boxes to allocated bins at the Distribution Centre as and when required.
Reporting
  • Ensure all Proof of Delivery's are presented to the Call Centre Clerk and that they have been signed.
  • Present a copy of each signed DLS/Truck manifest to management after each day's deliveries.
  • Ensure all discrepancies and any issues regarding the delivery are accurately recorded on the DLS and co signed.
  • Ensure all Proof of Delivery's are given to the Call Centre Clerk for capturing.
Communication
  • Communicate with the Courier Call Centre clerk regarding any discrepancies with client's address.
Vehicle Maintenance
  • Inspect vehicle as per weekly vehicle check list for any defects and safe operational conditions daily.
  • Be responsible for the fuel card and filling up with fuel - Fuel card only to be used for the vehicle which the card was allocated to.
  • Report on all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
  • Adhere to the road traffic rules and regulations as per the road traffic act.
  • Be liable for any traffic fines allocated to the vehicle he/she is driving.
  • Be responsible for the excess of insurance if found guilty of negligence.
General
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
