Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan. The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial - Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme - Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network. This exciting and challenging programme of work aims to improve safety and accessibility, enable an improved public transport system, provide more options for walking and cycling, and benefit the community and its visitors. With delivery across Tāhuna Queenstown, each project involves upgrading underground infrastructure followed by enhancing the street to make a safer and more inviting environment for pedestrians, cyclists and people using public transport - all part of building the Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Civil Surveyor with strong technical capability and proven experience delivering civil construction projects such as bridges, structures, roading and services.You will provide practical survey solutions, deliver accurate data for construction teams, and produce high quality CAD outputs. This role also includes the use of UAV/drone technology across some of New Zealand's most scenic project sites. Key Responsibilities Complete as built surveys to verify construction accuracy and progress. Use Leica survey equipment, Civil 3D and the Autodesk suite to create survey plans, models and technical drawings. Plan and carry out UAV/drone surveys and process aerial data into digital terrain models and site visualisations. Identify on site risks, analyse survey data and produce technical reports. Maintain clear and accurate project documentation. A project uplift component may be available, subject to individual circumstances and project requirements. What You'll Bring Minimum 2 years' experience in surveying or civil construction. Certificate in Surveying or relevant qualification. Proficiency with Leica instruments, Civil 3D, Autodesk and associated survey software (e.g., TBC). Solid understanding of survey methodologies, civil construction processes and digital engineering workflows. Full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence. A strong level of practical, outdoor capability - ideally suited to someone who enjoys being active and working across varied terrain (mountain bikers welcome!).
