Overview

Our client, a global leader committed to accelerating the transition toward a carbon-neutral world, operates in over 30 countries with a workforce exceeding 98,000 employees. The company designs and delivers innovative solutions in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure, with a strategic focus on low-carbon power generation, energy infrastructure, and customer-centric solutions. They are seeking a Chief Executive Officer to join their purpose-driven team in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Responsibilities
  • The CEO will be the internal and external main point of contact for the project company.
  • Lead health, safety and environment, shareholder management, community engagement, social economic development program, contract & finance management, technical reporting and HR management.
  • Optimise the financial performance of the project company, maintain and implement timely and accurate group financial reporting, medium-term forecast/budgeting, control and risk management, and protect the long-term value of the asset.
  • Ensure proper implementation of governance and reporting requirements, including preparation and organization of the project Board of Directors, subcommittees and general shareholders assembly.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to maintain the license to operate and represent the project.
  • Manage Environmental, Health and Safety performance of the project.
  • Ensure all regulatory approvals/permits are obtained and maintained to sustain full operation of the plant.
  • Oversee financial management and related controls.
  • Prepare medium- and long-term budget forecasts for Board approval, monitor and report variances and deviations.
  • Provide monthly financial reporting to the company.
  • Develop and propose the annual SED plan.
  • Manage owner's engineer and independent engineer until final acceptance date.
  • Ensure insurance coverage and policies are in place during the operational phase.
  • Report on the status of the project company to the Board of Directors and the shareholder companies as required.
  • Set objectives for the team, evaluate personnel regularly and establish salary policy aligned with the budget; implement incentive schemes.
Qualifications and Skills
  • University degree in engineering, financial or legal discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Certified public accountant / qualified chartered accountant is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience within the power/energy sector, preferably in power generation, with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
  • A relevant HSE qualification to enable delivery of the requirements is an advantage.
  • Solid background in project finance, accounting and consolidation; good understanding of company and tax laws is an advantage.
