Job Description

Our client in the mining industry is seeking an experienced and meticulous Mechanical Checker to join their engineering team. This role is critical to ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and constructability in the design and delivery of complex conveyor systems. An ideal candidate will be responsible for the rigorous review and approval of all mechanical drawings and 3D models produced for mining projects. This role demands extensive experience in conveyor system design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed checking of Mechanical GA, Fabrication, and Assembly drawings, Conveyor layouts
  • Review and validate 3D models, Model integrity and constructability, Clash detection outcomes
  • Ensure alignment with client specifications, EPCM standards and Safety regulations
  • Verify bill of materials (BOMs)
  • Check tolerances, dimensions, and alignment
  • Provide redline mark ups and technical feedback to designers
  • Participate in interdisciplinary model reviews
  • Ensure design consistency across project phases
  • Ensure that every design output is accurate, compliant with client specifications and EPCM standards, and optimized for fabrication and construction
Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in conveyor systems
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Checker or Senior Designer
  • Strong knowledge of bulk materials handling equipment, conveyor system design standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, 3D modelling platforms (Inventor / SolidWorks / Plant 3D or similar)
  • Strong understanding of constructability, fabrication standards and mining project execution processes
  • Experience working in a fast paced EPCM environment
