Business for Nature is seeking an experienced, creative, and strategic Social Media & Content Specialist to join their communications team on a freelance basis.

The successful candidate will serve as a key partner in developing and executing social media strategies, especially focusing on LinkedIn, to elevate the organization's visibility and impact in the global environmental and business policy arena.
This role requires a hands on approach, combining copywriting, visual design, and strategic storytelling to effectively communicate the organization's initiatives, achievements, and advocacy messages.

Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Content DeliveryThe core of this role is managing the day to day delivery of the organization's social media strategy. The specialist will primarily focus on LinkedIn, crafting content that aligns with Business for Nature's values and priorities. This involves creating engaging, clear, and compelling copy that simplifies complex policy and sustainability topics for a broad audience, including policymakers, business leaders, and the general public.
2. Content Creation & Visual DesignThe candidate will take the lead in designing visual assets to complement written content. This includes developing professional graphics, infographics, carousels, quote cards, and animations that reflect Business for Nature's refreshed brand identity. Short form videos and dynamic text based content are also part of the scope, requiring proficiency in visual design tools such as Canva, ensuring assets meet branding standards and resonate with the target audience.
3. Brand and Identity ManagementAs Business for Nature undergoes a brand refresh, the specialist will be instrumental in translating this new identity into visual assets and content series. They will ensure that all communications are consistent, professional, and aligned with the updated branding, elevating the organization's profile in high level global policy and business dialogues.
4. Audience Engagement & Community ManagementThe specialist will proactively engage with Business for Nature's LinkedIn community, which includes over 33,000 followers, 100+ partner organizations, and 1,500+ signatory companies. This involves responding to comments, initiating conversations, and ensuring that Business for Nature's voice is present in relevant dialogues, thereby building a vibrant community of advocates and supporters.
Linking content to broader organizational priorities is essential. The specialist will repurpose reports, website content, and policy updates into engaging social media campaigns that influence business leaders and policymakers. Sharing thought leadership, policy wins, and publications will help position Business for Nature as a credible, evidence based leader on the business nature agenda.
6. Monitoring & ReportingTo optimize outreach and engagement, the specialist will assist with light analytics reporting using tools like Hootsuite. Tracking KPIs and content performance will inform ongoing strategies, ensuring that the social media approach continues to grow reach and influence.
Qualifications and Skills- Proven experience in creating engaging content for LinkedIn targeting business or government audiences
- Ability to simplify complex policy and sustainability issues into compelling narratives
- Mastery of tone: conversational, inclusive, professional, and free of jargon
- Advanced design skills using Canva or similar tools, aligned with brand guidelines
- Strong understanding of social media analytics, with capacity to manage light reporting and data tracking
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work within structured workflows
- High standards of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work across time zones, preferably overlapping with UK/Central Europe hours
Nice to Have:
- Experience in corporate advocacy or sustainability spaces
- Video content creation skills for social media
