Schroders in South Africa
Schroders has had offices in South Africa since 2015 and we focus entirely on providing offshore investment solutions to local intermediaries and institutions. Schroders has 22 FSCA-approved offshore funds available to South African investors, which are available on several offshore platforms. Our relationship with Sanlam Collective Investments also gives investors access to our strategies through two onshore ZAR feeder funds and our Schroder European Real Estate Investment Trust is listed on the JSE.
Overview of role
The Business Development & Sales Support Executive is a client-facing sales support, delivering outstanding service and operational excellence across all aspects of the client relationship while proactively contributing to the identification and progression of sales opportunities across institutional and intermediary channels. The role supports the business's commercial growth, enhances sales productivity, deepens client engagement strengthens the effectiveness of the team.
What you'll do
- Client relationship management
- Process, validate, and manage client requests, liaising with internal teams where necessary
- Ensure accuracy of data, reporting and client requests
- Client communication
- Act as a first line contact for clients
- Provide high-quality support to clients and the sales team, including providing timely, professional, accurate and commercially insightful responses via phone, email and digital channels
- Maintain a strong understanding of Schroders products to support client queries confidently and accurately
- Administrative support
- Maintain, update, and audit Salesforce data
- Prepare reports, proposals, and sales materials
- Support broader administrative activities for the team
- Operational support
- Assist with lead nurturing and follow-ups
- Coordinate client meetings and internal scheduling
- Provide after-sales service to maintain strong relationships
- Process improvement
- Identify workflow bottlenecks or inefficiencies
- Recommend and support process enhancements
- Work with managers to resolve operational issues
- Support identification, evaluation and prioritisation of new business leads across institutional and intermediary channels, including conducting your own research to generate sales opportunities
- Proactively identify cross selling opportunities among existing and prospective institutional and intermediary clients
- Assist with outbound sales campaigns and tracking
- Coordinate industry events, webinars, and roadshows
- Assist in the onboarding of new client relationships
- Collaborate with internal teams on strategic growth efforts
- Occasional travel within South Africa to support sales activities
- Travel may include Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and other regions
- A valid driver's licence is advantageous
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- 5+ years in sales support, administration, & business development
- Financial services experience required, asset management experience preferred
- A bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Science), specialising in (but not limited to) Investments, Finance, Economics, Statistics and Business Management preferred
- Grade 12 (Matric) and RE5 Certification are essential
- Proficiency in Salesforce and strong Microsoft Office capability (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professionalism in client-facing interactions
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to learn and understand Schroders' products
