Job Description

The ideal team player will be responsible for the accurate and safe loading of bulk feed products into transport vehicles and for collecting representative samples of raw materials and finished products in accordance with quality control procedures. This role ensures compliance with product quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols, supporting the broader goals of the Quality Control (QC) team.

Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Experience in a feed mill or similar production environment preferred.
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment and in varied weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Load bulk feed products into trucks and other transport vehicles as per loading instructions and schedules.
  • Ensure accurate weight measurements using weighbridge or in-line scales.
  • Follow proper loading sequence and protocols to avoid contamination and ensure feed integrity.
  • Confirm vehicle cleanliness and readiness before loading.
  • Complete and maintain accurate loading documentation.
  • Collect representative samples of raw materials, in-process, and finished products as per established protocols.
  • Label and record all samples accurately for tracking and analysis.
  • Deliver samples to the QC lab promptly for testing and retain samples as required.
  • Ensure sampling tools and containers are clean and properly maintained.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to loading, sampling, hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Assist the QC Supervisor in identifying and reporting deviations from quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized loading and sampling areas, as well as lab area.
  • Assist in basic quality checks, where trained.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies, including the use of PPE.
  • Identify and report hazards or malfunctions in loading and sampling equipment.
  • Participate in safety training and toolbox talks.
  • Assist in routine cleaning and maintenance of sampling and loading equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime and over holidays.
  • Assist with the housekeeping of the retention store and discarding of old samples.
  • Ensure that the trucks and tankers are properly sealed.
  • Assist in the lab if the need arises.
  • Ensure that proper handover is done to the QC Supervisor and for the incoming shifts.
