Job Description
A well-established technical service organisation is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to take full responsibility for its Pinetown branch and regional service network, Durban.
OverviewThis role requires a commercially strong leader with a proven track record in managing a technical service/profit centre, driving operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and sustainable profitability.
Key Responsibilities 1. Technical & Operations Management- Lead and manage a team of service technicians
- Ensure optimal staffing levels with appropriately skilled technicians
- Plan and allocate workloads effectively
- Develop and implement technician training plans
- Build a sustainable pipeline of technical talent
- Oversee all branch administration related to:
- Maintenance contracts
- Payable service work
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency of the workflow:
- Technician -> Admin -> Customer / System
- Review and approve administrative reporting
- Maintain strong process discipline and compliance
- Ensure accurate control of parts and inventory
- Maintain agreed minimum stock levels
- Oversee replenishment processes and stock accuracy
- Manage the stores function to prevent losses and downtime
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Drive customer satisfaction and service quality
- Identify and grow new business opportunities within the service division
- Collaborate with sales to ensure seamless service support
- Leverage service delivery quality to support equipment/unit sales
- Manage the branch as a profit centre
- Take accountability for:
- Profitability
- Cost control
- Revenue growth
- Implement strategies to turn around and improve performance (branch currently loss-making)
- Track key financial and operational KPIs
- Minimum 5+ years' experience managing a technical service branch or profit centre
- Strong commercial acumen (costing, margins, profitability)
- Proven leadership of technical/service teams
- Experience in after-sales/service environments (preferred)
- Strong operational and administrative skills
- Ability to drive turnaround and growth strategies
- Mid-career professional (typically approx 10-20 years total experience)
- Strong leadership presence and accountability
- Customer-centric mindset
- Highly organised and results-driven
- Base Salary: R40,000 - R50,000 per month (depending on experience)
- Car Allowance: R5,000 per month
- Fuel Card
- Performance Bonus: Based on branch profitability
- Provident Fund: 7% (compulsory)
- Medical Aid: 50% company contribution (up to R2,500/month)
