Streets Metherell Gard based in Bude Cornwall, are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper / Processing Clerk / Finance Assistant to join our growing accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting senior accountants with reconciliations and reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience using Xero and enjoys working with numbers, processes, and data accuracy in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Process daily financial transactions accurately using Xero, Quickbooks and other accounting software, including sales, purchases, expenses, and bank entries.
• Maintain up-to-date ledgers and ensure data integrity within these accounting systems.
• Perform bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations.
• Process supplier invoices, match payments, and allocate receipts.
• Capture and code expenses through Hubdoc or similar tools.
• Assist in preparing and submitting VAT workings for review.
• Support accountants with month-end processes such as accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet schedules as needed.
• Maintain organized digital filing systems for all accounting documents.

• Minimum 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting processing experience.
• Proficiency in Xero (essential) and other softwares, understanding of their reporting and reconciliation features.
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
• Experience using Dext, Hubdoc, or similar data capture tools.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

• Experience working within an accounting practice or multi-client environment.
• Exposure to UK VAT, payroll, or financial statement preparation.
