Our Client has a requirement for a Bid Writer, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Preston.

Role Purpose:
  • Produce high-quality, compelling bid content across public and private sector tenders
  • Support the successful delivery of PQQ and tender submissions
  • Lead and coordinate bid processes for smaller tenders as Bid Lead
  • Translate technical information into clear, client-focused responses
  • Contribute to winning work aligned with the organisation's strategic and social value objectives
Job Role Responsibilities:
  • Act as Bid Lead for allocated tenders, managing the process from opportunity approval through to submission
  • Produce bid programmes and submission plans
  • Organise and lead bid kick-off meetings
  • Allocate responsibilities and coordinate input from estimators, planners, and operational teams
  • Track progress against deadlines and ensure timely delivery of submissions
  • Manage tender clarifications and ensure full compliance with client requirements
  • Assemble, review, and submit final tender documentation

Bid Writing & Content Development:

  • Write clear, persuasive responses to PQQs, tenders, and framework submissions
  • Translate technical and operational information into structured, client-focused content
  • Develop methodology responses, project approaches, and value propositions
  • Review and enhance contributions from technical team members
  • Edit and proofread submissions to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality
  • Ensure all responses align with defined win themes
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in bid writing with the ability to produce clear and compelling content
  • Experience coordinating PQQ and tender submissions (construction or civil engineering desirable but not essential)
  • Strong ability to interpret tender questions, scoring criteria, and client requirements
  • Skilled in extracting and translating technical input into high-quality written responses
  • Excellent written communication, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with document design tools such as InDesign (beneficial)
  • Highly organised, proactive, and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
  • Confident communicator with internal stakeholders
