Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join the IntellectualProperty Department in the TradeMark Litigation Team in the Johannesburg offices of ENS.
The successful candidate will have a passion for intellectual property, be solution-driven with excellent analytical and communication skills. This role offers a dynamic working environment and the opportunity to develop excellent trade mark litigation abilities and exceptional technical skills. The work will be diverse and challenging and involve all aspects of trade mark litigation / enforcement across Africa.
Key Responsibilities- All aspects of trade mark litigation / enforcement work
- Working knowledge of how to run the following matters: trade mark and copyright infringement, trade mark cancellations, passing off and unlawful competition, domain name disputes, ARB complaints, social media disputes, company name objections
- Preparing opinions
- Drafting pleadings, letters of demand, undertakings and settlement agreements
- Attending consultations with clients
- General practice management including: diary and file management, time keeping and recordal, providing guidance to support staff, liaising with Registrar of Trade Marks, managing debtors' book, invoicing
- Admitted Attorney with a strong academic record
- Good knowledge of trade mark law and principles
- At least 2 years' PQE trade mark litigation experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the Patricia IP management system
- Drive, determination and ambition

- Excellent time and practice management skills
