Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Finance Manager to join our finance team. This is a key mid-level role that combines hands on financial operations with analytical insight and process leadership. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager in delivering accurate financial reporting, driving budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring compliance in both the USA and SA, and providing actionable insights to support business decision making.

This position is ideal for a graduate level professional with 2-5 years of relevant experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility and contribute to both operational excellence and strategic financial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management accounts, and variance analyses.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, including building financial models, collaborating with department heads to gather inputs, and presenting findings to senior leadership.
  • Oversee day to day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month end close processes.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; prepare ad hoc reports and dashboards for executive review.
  • Assist in cash flow management, treasury activities, and working capital optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), internal controls, tax requirements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Review and approve journal entries, expense reports, and payment batches for accuracy.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls within the finance function.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members or accounting staff as needed.
  • Support audits (internal and external) by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with operations, sales, and other departments to provide financial guidance and support business initiatives.
  • Assist with preparation of tax returns, both in SA and USA.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BCom, Bachelor of Business Science (Master's degree or professional qualification such as CASA, CMA, or equivalent is a plus but not required)
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (or IFRS) and general accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, financial modeling) and experience with ERP/finance systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • 2 5 years relevant work experience
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non finance stakeholders
  • Proactive problem solver with sound judgment and business acumen
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
