Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include staff development and operational leadership related to monitoring, enrollment and site management; using metrics to assess performance; and serving as a point of escalation for customers.

  1. Line Management responsibilities including administrative oversight, professional development, performance appraisals, and mentoring/coaching of staff.
  2. Review workloads, utilization, productivity, and quality for staff in the reporting chain.
  3. Manage staff by establishing goals that increase knowledge and skill levels, and by delegating tasks commensurate with skill level.
  4. Collaborate with the appropriate business unit/region to ensure staff performance on studies and address any deficiencies identified by staff, clients, or auditors.
  5. Act as a point of contact for performance-related concerns for assigned staff related to monitoring, enrollment and/or site management.
  6. Provide operational oversight to support prioritization of activities, monitor work, ensure metrics compliance, and develop contingency plans.
  7. May support fiscal management tasks of projects related to monitoring, enrollment and/or site management.
  8. Support assessment of staff growth and participate in the selection and hiring process.
  9. Proactively work to ensure staff retention and manage turnover within expected levels.
  10. Ensure all staff complete required training and documentation.
  11. Ensure quality and adherence to SOPs/WIs and compliance with regulatory guidelines and ICH GCP.
  12. Provide regular compliance updates to management.
  13. Manage resource availability and assignment for direct reports; ensure projects are resourced and staffing needs identified in a timely fashion, resolving conflicts.
  14. Liaise with resourcing management on active awarded and proposal project assignments.
  15. Participate in cross-organizational initiatives; champion change management and implementation of initiatives.
  16. Identify needs and recommend process improvements and efficiencies.
  17. Support staff in marketing activities, client presentations and proposal/bid defense development.
  18. Participate in audits of clinical trial management delivery and prepare others for participation in audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Master's or life sciences degree preferred.
  • Familiar with Good Clinical Practice/ICH E6 (R2) Guidelines and/or other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Familiar with monitoring, enrollment and/or site management procedures.
  • Familiar with project risk and issues management; ability to anticipate issues and develop proactive contingency plans.
  • Experience interacting with key stakeholders and sponsors; ability to persuade and influence; strong negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiar with management of utilization, resources, hiring targets and productivity metrics.
  • Ability to teach, train and mentor employees at all levels to achieve goals.
  • Familiar with financial concepts related to forecasting, budgeting, and proposal generation.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills; team-oriented approach.
  • Understanding of workflow processes and cross-functional roles; ability to work across functional areas.
  • Ability to communicate project concepts and develop detailed plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Analytical Data Visualization Tools; Lean Six Sigma knowledge preferred; openness to new technologies.
  • Well-developed therapeutic expertise preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, tactical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Travel up to 30% (departmental meetings, investigator meetings, training, client meetings, bid defenses).
