Job Description
Hepworth J & I School is a happy village primary school in the Holme Valley with a well-established staff team, supportive parents, a dedicated governing body and children who are a joy to teach. Demand for school places here is high due to an ethos which prides itself on high attainment, being an eco-school, outdoor education, pupil well-being and working closely with the community.
This is an exciting time for the school as it is currently making the transition from local authority school to Learning Accord Multi Academy Trust (LAMAT) school; a process that will be completed by the time the new assistant headteacher starts.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding assistant headteacher who will help shape the future of the school, who will fit into the existing staff team but also bring something dynamic and new to our school. This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward teaching and learning, develop SEND provision across school and to experience decision making when the Head is absence.
We require applicants with:
- Experience of working as part of an SLT
- A proven track record as an outstanding classroom practitioner who can support colleagues to develop their practice and who can model exemplary lessons
- Enthusiasm for working as part of a team as well as an ability to work independently
- Superb interpersonal skills and confidence in communicating with pupils, parents and professionals
- A hard working, resilient, enthusiastic and committed approach to school life

Expectations of the role:
- SENDco role (No experience required)
- Lead the school in the Head's absence (The Head currently works four days a week)
- 5 days a week teaching commitment in a mixed Y5/6 class
- Be part of the safeguarding team (deputy DSL)
- Contribute towards the school development plan and be part of the SLT
